Experimental observation of edge-dependent quantum pseudospin Hall effect

چکیده

It is a conventional wisdom that the helical edge states of quantum spin Hall (QSH) insulator are particularly stable due to topological protection time-reversal symmetry. Here, we report first experimental observation an edge-dependent (pseudo-)spin effect by employing two Kekule electric circuits with molecule-zigzag and partially-bearded edges, where chirality circulating current in unit cell mimics electron spin. We observe helicity flipping in-gap modes emerging opposite parameter regions for geometries. Experimental findings interpreted terms mirror winding number defined cell, choice which exclusively depends on shape. Our work offers deeper understanding boundary QSH phase, pave way studying spin-dependent physics circuits.

Pseudospin Quantum Hall Ferromagnetism

Symmetry breaking ground states occur in quantum Hall effect (QHE) systems when two or more Landau levels become degenerate near the Fermi level. Isotropic, easy-axis or easy plane quantum Hall ferromagnets (QHF) can form depending on the pseudospins of the involved Landau levels consisting of real spin, orbit radius quantum number, subband index or growth direction. Theories based on Hartree-F...

Meron Pseudospin Solutions in Quantum Hall Systems

In this paper we report calculations of some pseudospin textures for bilayer quantum hall systems with filling factor ν = 1. The textures we study are isolated single meron solutions. Meron solutions have already been studied at great length by others by minimising the microcopic Hamiltonian between microscopic trial wavefunctions. Our approach is somewhat different. We calculate them by numeri...

Experimental Observation of Quantum Hall Effect and Berry ’ s Phase in Graphene

When electrons are confined in two-dimensional (2D) materials, quantum mechanically enhanced transport phenomena, as exemplified by the quantum Hall effects (QHE), can be observed. Graphene, an isolated single atomic layer of graphite, is an ideal realization of such a 2D system. Its behaviour is, however, expected to differ dramatically from the well-studied case of quantum wells in convention...

Experimental observation of the quantum anomalous Hall effect in a magnetic topological insulator.

The quantized version of the anomalous Hall effect has been predicted to occur in magnetic topological insulators, but the experimental realization has been challenging. Here, we report the observation of the quantum anomalous Hall (QAH) effect in thin films of chromium-doped (Bi,Sb)2Te3, a magnetic topological insulator. At zero magnetic field, the gate-tuned anomalous Hall resistance reaches ...

Observation of the quantum Hall effect in δ-doped SrTiO3

The quantum Hall effect is a macroscopic quantum phenomenon in a two-dimensional electron system. The two-dimensional electron system in SrTiO3 has sparked a great deal of interest, mainly because of the strong electron correlation effects expected from the 3d orbitals. Here we report the observation of the quantum Hall effect in a dilute La-doped SrTiO3-two-dimensional electron system, fabrica...
